What is SpeakerBuilding.com?

SpeakerBuilding.com is dedicated to design and construction of loudspeakers. The primary goals of the site are to present DIY loudspeakers designed by amateur designers, to present loudspeaker kits that are easy to build for beginners, to give the users a guide to further exploring of the subject, and maybe to inspire users to build their own set of speakers. The site shall also be a resource for the loudspeaker builder community.

SpeakerBuilding.com is not a replacement for books and other published articles on the subject. Instead it is a guide into the world of loudspeaker design.

Who is this site for?
SpeakerBuilding.com is aimed to amateur constructors, both beginners and more advanced. The sites content is mostly about DIY loudspeakers for stereo, but will also contain subjects as pro, home theater and car stereo loudspeakers.

The History
SpeakerBuilding.com started in March 1995 as The Speaker Building Page. In the beginning there wasn't much information on the site, but the site grew steadily during 1995 and 1996. The site was redesigned in 1996 and 1997, but kept its simple interface.

In 1996 the site got a mirror in Canada, to provide a faster access for American visitors. In 1997 the site was moved to a faster server, and got the domain name speakerbuilding.com.

The site grew further, but from midway in 1998 to 1999 little happened on the site.

The site was down from december 1999 to march 2000, when it was relaunched with a new design and some new content. The site was moved, and is now hosted by FutureQuest in Florida, USA. The site now use a special designed publishing system to publish articles to the site.
